In 15 years of civil service, Brian Mikel advanced through the ranks to serve as the Hawaii Area Director of the U.S. Department of Labor – OFCCP since 2012. Prior to finding his home in Honolulu, Brian excelled as a Senior Compliance Officer in the Los Angeles District Office and as a Bilingual Investigator with the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Chicago.
While fulfilling the Department of Labor’s mission in the Pacific Island Communities, Brian has worked with countless employers, federal/state/city partners and nonprofit organizations to advance equal employment opportunity and protect workers from employment discrimination. He has volunteered on the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board LEAD Diversity & Inclusion Working Group. In addition, he is a trained Mediator and graduate of the Daniel K. Inouye APCSS Asia-Pacific Orientation Course.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Brian graduated with honors from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.
